Our Women in Construction program empowers women to build successful careers in the skilled trades. Through hands-on training, supportive services, and career placement assistance, we provide the tools and opportunities needed to break barriers and achieve economic security.

Women in Construction (WinC)
Pre-Apprenticeship Program

The Women in Construction (WinC) program, an initiative of Moore Community House, was founded in East Biloxi after Hurricane Katrina. Our goal is to equip women with the skills needed for careers in construction, helping them achieve financial independence and provide for their families.

Our Vision

WinC envisions a community where women thrive in the construction industry, contribute to economic growth, and are valued as skilled professionals.

Our Mission

WinC is dedicated to:

  • Increasing women's earning power

  • Providing essential job skills for nontraditional workplaces

  • Developing leadership skills

Our Core Beliefs

WinC believes that:

  • Women deserve fair wages and financial stability

  • Economic empowerment strengthens families

  • Workplaces should be free from harassment

  • Women deserve respect and equal opportunities

Commitment to Inclusion

WinC is an Equal Opportunity Program that values diversity and respects all backgrounds. We uphold a culture of fairness, inclusion, and respect for everyone. Through education, training, and advocacy, WinC continues to break barriers, create opportunities, and build a future where women can thrive in construction and beyond.

"This program gave me the confidence to pursue a career I never thought possible. After years of uncertainty, I finally got the job I’ve always wanted as an apprentice painter. Moore Community House - Women in Construction program gave me the confidence to pursue a career I never thought possible. I’m now earning more income, have amazing benefits, PTO, and paid training. The mock interviews, hands-on training, and learning to work in male-dominated environments made all the difference. I was even selected as a top candidate in my interview because of the skills and certifications I gained through this program!"
